Euro-Africa Youth Summit 2012

Deadline: 17 February 2012
Open to: Community activists, social entrepreneurs and volunteers from the two regions – Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe
Venue: June 2012 in Brussels, Belgium

Global Changemakers was founded in 2007 when six young activists, brought together by the British Council, were invited to lend the ‘voice of youth’ to the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum. Since then, the network has grown to a community of over 730 Changemakers in 121 countries world-wide. The mission of the programme is to empower youth to catalyse positive social change. It has expanded since its inception, and is now built on three pillars: Learning, Doing and Advocacy.

The Euro-Africa Youth Summit 2012 will take place in Brussels in June. (The exact dates will be announced in time for the call for applications.)

The Global Changemakers are inviting active youth in the age between 18 and 24 to apply for participation. The 60 regular participants must be new Changemakers who haven’t taken part in previous summits. However, as with all recent summits 10 existing Global Changemakers (aged 18-25 on the first day of the summit) to the Euro-Africa Youth Summit will attend as peer facilitators.

The British Council will covers all the costs (i.e. travel, visa, accommodation, meals, and training costs) for the selected participants. Resident of a European country or one of the Sub Saharan Africa countries listed here.

The call for applications for changemakers and peers will be published on the page mentioned above on 30 January; the period to apply is from 30 January till 17 February.
