IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival

Description

In The Palace is an International festival dedicated to short films under 45 minutes in length. It is held annually in late June in the Black Sea town of Balchik. Established in 2003, the festival had grown from a competitive forum for student films into the largest and most prestigious short film festival in Bulgaria and the region.

The 10th edition of In the Palace International Short Film Festival will be held from June 29th to July 7th, 2012. The entry fee of 25 Euros applies per submitted film.

The two main sections of the festival are the International Competition and the National Competition.

The International Competition is dedicated to films with Bulgarian Premiere at the 10th In The Palace ISFF, including the following categories:

  • Fiction
  • Documentary
  • Animation
  • Experimental & non-narrative productions, hybrid forms & formats, digital artwork

The National Competition is for Bulgarian films, including the following categories:

  • Fiction
  • Documentary
  • Animation
  • Experimental & non-narrative productions, hybrid forms & formats, digital artwork

Eligibility

In The Palace ISFF accepts individual or institutional entries /production studios, from distribution companies, film academies, national film centres, televisions, associations of artists, etc.

Application

Submission deadline is:

  • March 25th, 2012 for International Competition;
  • April 15th, 2012 for National Competition;

The entry fee (25 Euro) for the 10th In The Palace ISFF applies per submitted film.

Submission materials required:

  • Filled out online Entry Form;
  • Preview copy of the submitted film(s) on DVD /PAL (to be sent by post) or in common digital video file format /PAL (to be sent for downloading via security web link); If the language version of the submitted film is different than English, the preview copies should be subtitled in English!
  • Dialogue list in English (lines with time code according to the PAL format version) – applicable also for English language versions!
  • A document certifying paid entry fee scanned by e-mail (not applicable for payments via PayPal);

Preview copies are not subject of return.

The selected authors (both in competitive and non-competitive programmes) will be announced until April 30th, 2012.
The authors should send a trailer of the selected film in high quality common digital video file format as soon as possible (suitable for cinema screenings);

Deadline for submission of screening copies of the selected films is May 31st, 2012. Eligible screening copies formats are: 35 mm, 16 mm, BETACAM SP (PAL) or HDCAM (PAL);

All submitted preview copies are automatically entered in the festival Video Library and made available for non-commercial professional viewing. The festival reserves the right to digitize all works selected for professional viewing purposes during the Festival.

By submitting the Entry Form to IN THE PALACE you accept all terms and conditions stipulated in the Regulations.

Prizes

The nominated films could be included in a DVD “In The Palace On Tour” which will be used for promotion of the festival and the authors.

The prize fund of the 10th In The Palace is 10,000 Euro in gold.

All awards and prizes will be handed personally to the film’s representative. Awards and prizes will NOT be delivered by mail.
