Description

The International Theatre Institute (ITI) is launching a call for participation in the theatre Master Class  and Open Class sessions within the International Theatre Summer School that will be held in Istanbul  in June/July 2012.

The International Summer School is part of the project “Stories of stars and acrobats- forms of  theatre between Turkey and the EU”, carried out by the General Secretariat of the International  Theatre Institute (based at UNESCO, France), in partnership with the Turkish Centre of ITI (Turkey) and Form360 (Italy), and in collaboration with the University of Salento (Italy) and Astràgali Teatro (Italy). The project is co-funded by the European Union and the Government of the Republic of  Turkey within the framework of the Programme “The Civil Society Facility – EU-Turkey Intercultural Dialogue.”

The International Theatre Summer School foresees two different Classes, held by international masters, under the general coordination of the International Theatre Institute and the Turkish Centre of ITI and the artistic direction of Fabio Tolledi (Astràgali Teatro).  An intercultural and multidisciplinary approach is the core of the Summer School Classes.

The two Classes have different objectives, admission requirements and work schedules.

Master Class

It targets a group of max 25 professional actors and actresses from Turkey and other European countries. The work sessions are led by international masters. Participants will work on the staging of a joint theatrical performance that will be presented in Istanbul as a result of the Master Class.  The Master Class foresees an intensive work schedule (10 hours a day). Because of the work objectives and methodology, it is requested that participants be available for the entire duration of the Master Class as extra work time may be required. The Classes are held by qualified theatre professionals and include physical training (movement, work on physical action, work on breath, awareness of the space), work on voice and singing, and work on text. Participants will be enrolled in an intensive work programme, exploring a variety of aspects central to acting training at a master level and culminating in a multilingual performance, presented in Istanbul on 15th July.
Security deposit refunded at the end of Master Class, payable at registration (after selection): 50 €
Dates: 1-15 July 2012
Location: Istanbul Kültür University, Istanbul (Turkey)

Open Class

It targets a group of maximum 35 acting students, young actors/actresses, cultural operators from Turkey and European countries. The work sessions are led by international masters and foresee practical and theoretical lessons. Practical lessons are focused on: movement, breath, voice, acting, and singing. Theoretical lessons deal with dramaturgy and consist of lectures on traditional forms
and contemporary forms of theatre in Turkey and Europe. The Open Classes are separate from the Master Classes. The programme foresees 4 hours of work per day. Security deposit refunded at the end of Open Class, payable at registration (after selection): 20 €
