Description

The future of Europe is vitally dependent on how quickly and effectively the continent can be made to grow together. In this process the media play an important role.

Therefore APA – Austria Press Agency in cooperation with Bank Austria, a member of UniCredit, created the journalism prize “Writing for Central Europe”.

The prize is aimed at encouraging European integration. Awards come into question for those contributions which help overcome borders and prejudices, deal with the future of Central Europe or the Europe of the regions, minority issues or dialogue with neighbours. According to the organisers, journalists from non-EU countries such as Ukraine, Belarus or Russia are also invited to participate.

Eligibility

Journalists from around Europe are welcome to apply.

They should submit articles published in the period from August 1st 2011 until July 31st 2012.

Prize

The jury selects one contribution. There is only one winner, who receives 5.000 EUR prize. The best ten to twelve contributions are published in a booklet – on submission, the authors agree to waive their publication fee for the booklet.

Application

• Each article should be submitted in the original language (word data with maximum 25 pages by E-mail)
• with a translation into English,
• curriculum vitae in English (ten lines), and the
• submission form.
Radio-, TV- and online-contributions may also be submitted. The exclusive criterion for the jury’s decision is the quality of the text. With your submission you agree to the possible publication of the submitted report in the scope of the “Writing for CEE” journalism award.
