Description

The Department of Computer Science of University of Oxford, has a vacancy for a postdoctoral research assistant to work in the area of logic based knowledge representation and reasoning, under the direction of Professor Ian Horrocks and Dr. Bernardo Grau. The post is funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) as part of the Score! project, and by the EU Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) as part of the Optique project. The posts are available from late summer/autumn 2012, and will be of between two and four years duration.

The successful applicant will join an internationally leading and rapidly growing research group, with research interests ranging from the logical foundations of information systems through to their implementation and deployment in large scale applications and would be expected to undertake research and to prepare research papers.

Eligibility

Applicants should have, or expect shortly to obtain, a PhD in computer science, artificial intelligence, or some other relevant discipline, and should have experience in logics, automated reasoning or database theory.

Reimbursement

The post is a full time appointment, offered on a fixed term contract basis of between 24 and 48 months, and had a salary on the University grade 08 scale, currently £37,012 – £44,166 p.a.
