“I and the others: Discovering diversity around and within me” is the theme of this year’s call of aces, the Academy of Central European Schools. Schools from 15 countries are invited to participate in one of the largest international school networks. Its aim is to enable and enhance intercultural dialogue and cooperation of young people and to create a continuous network of shared knowledge, mutual learning and innovation.

In today’s society diversity is the norm and no longer the exception: People of different ethnicity, religion, ages, gender and sexual orientation live together and should be treated equally. Schools and especially school projects such as aces can offer the possibility to actually interact with people from various backgrounds and to learn from and with each other.

An international jury will select the best projects and the winners will be awarded with a grant. The partner schools implement their joint project idea dealing with the various aspects of diversity, such as identity, discrimination, common standards, values etc. They receive support during the implementation phase and are invited to international network meetings, where they share best practises, are introduced to new educational methods and make new friends.

Grants

An international selection committee assesses and awards the best applications. The awarded projects are supported to carry out their cross-border partnership projects with grants (1.600 € per participating partner school, 200 € additionally for the coordinating school) as well as with additional support structures like international events and online tools.
