Summer Seminar for High School Students from Macedonia

Description

Liberal Alternative Institute (LAI) and Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) invite high school students from Macedonia to apply for the Youth in Southeastern Europe as Active Citizens in Multicultural Societies seminar which will take place on 16-18 August in Struga.

The seminar will embody the main tenets of democracy such as human rights, diversity, equality and dignity while combating any form of online expression of hate speech and discrimination.

The aim is to push for activism among young people towards healthy usage of social and electronic media, find solutions to the problems involving hate speech and make a change in society. The seminar will feature speakers from Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, Liberal Alternative Institute , American Jewish Committee and the Institute for Modern Politics.

A total of 25 high school students coming from Macedonia will be chosen to participate in the summer seminar and emphasis during the selection process will be given to the gender, ethnic and religious representation.

Eligibility

In order to apply participants should:

  • be a high school student from Macedonia
  • have interest in active citizenship
  • have a good command of English

Costs

All the costs (accommodation, food and travel) will be covered by the organizers.
