The Swiss Forum for Migration and Population Studies at the University of Neuchâtel intends to appoint one PhD researcher. Potential candidates must hold a Master degree in social sciences and have some research experience.
The researcher will carry out a project on youth of Turkish and Balkan origin in Zurich, Basel and Geneva, which is funded by a leading Swiss Foundation. The project wants to explain successful trajectories of second generation youth and is thought to be the basis for a personal PhD project.
The tasks will include research in the context of the project on second generation of Turkish and Balkan origin.
The salary is commensurate with the tariffs applied by the University of Neuchâtel (in French only, see HERE). For a first year doctoral assistant, the salary amounts to 69,611.75 CHF yearly (€56,413) or 5,354.75 CHF monthly (€4,337 ), with increases for the second and third years of the assignment. The initial appointment is limited to three years and is intended to start November 1, 2013 (or later, according to a mutual agreement).
- Completed Master in social sciences
- Expertise in qualitative empirical research
- Excellent oral and written English and German skills. Working languages at the SFM are French and German; knowledge of both languages is an important asset.
