Description
Prins Foundation Fellowships support research at the Center for Jewish History in a number of disciplines. The Center for Jewish History creates opportunities for scholars to immerse themselves in explorations of the primary source materials preserved within its walls.
For the past 11 years, the Center’s Fellowship Program has offered financial support to a diverse group of more than 60 humanities scholars at various stages of their careers and research projects. Support from the NEH and other funders has been critical in helping to build an interdisciplinary community of scholars who, through their work, will expand the reach of the partners’ rich collections and create new scholarship.
1. Fellowship for Emigrating Artists and Writers-in-Residence
The award supports original research for early stage projects by foreign artists and writers from a variety of disciplines that may include: journalists, novelists, poets, travel writers, biographers, photographers, visual artists, and others outside of academia.
Applicants must demonstrate significant need for sustained access to the collections of the Center’s partners: American Sephardi Federation, American Jewish Historical Society, Leo Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Museum, and YIVO Institute for Jewish Research.

Eligibility
- Open to artists and writers who seek permanent residence in North America. Preference will be given to candidates from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Israeli citizens are not eligible.
- It is the responsibility of the applicant to have the appropriate visa for acceptance of the stipend for the duration of the award. The Center for Jewish History is not a visa-granting institution. The Center will help facilitate the visa application process.
2. Postdoctoral and Early Career Fellowship for Emigrating Scholars
The organization is inviting foreign scholars who seek permanent teaching and research positions in North America to apply for this award, which will support 12-month fellowships for scholars who are at the beginning of their careers.
Fellows will be provided with an annual stipend of $35,000 to conduct original research in the vast collections of the Center’s partners: American Jewish Historical Society, American Sephardi Federation, Leo Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Museum, and YIVO Institute for Jewish Research.

3. Prins Foundation Fellowship for Senior Scholars
We invite foreign senior scholars who seek a permanent teaching and research position in North America to apply for this award, which will support research in the vast collections of the Center’s partners: American Jewish Historical Society, American Sephardi Federation, Leo Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Museum, and YIVO Institute for Jewish Research.
The 12-month Prins Foundation Fellowship for Senior Scholar entails a living stipend of $75,000, as well as a relocation stipend of up to $15,000.

Eligibility
Open to senior scholars from outside North America who seek permanent teaching and research positions. A senior scholar is defined at someone who has held the Ph.D for longer than 6 years. Preference will be given to candidates from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Israeli citizens are not eligible.

Applications for the 2014 fellowships are due January 6, 2014. All application material, including letters of reference, must be received by this date for consideration.
