Description

AtoSim2.0 is a highly integrated two-year Erasmus Mundus master in Atomic Scale Modelling of Physical, Chemical and Biomolecular Systems, jointly operated by:

All students now follow courses first at Amsterdam, then at Rome, and finally in Lyon to obtain a triple diploma. The forth semester is devoted to research in laboratories in Amsterdam, Rome, Lyon or one of 21 additional partners.

Eligibility

AtoSim welcomes applications from both EU and non-EU students with:

  • an excellent university record
  • at least 3 years of prior studies
  • major in one of the following fields: Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Applied Maths, Bioinformatics.

Scholarship

Category  A: Students from  a  country  other  than  an  eligible  applicant  country (Member State of the European Union, EEA-EFTA State, Turkey, Western Balkan countries or Switzerland) and  who  are  not  residents  nor  have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of these countries.

Category A scholarship: contribution to travel, installation and any other type of costs – €8,000, monthly allowance €1,000, coverage of participation fees €4,000 per semester.

Category B: Students who do not fulfil the Category A criteria defined above.

Category B scholarship: monthly allowance €500, coverage of participation fees €2,000 per semester.

Application

The application deadline for the course year 2014-2016 is 5 January 2014. To apply to the AtoSiM MSc course, you must:

  1. Download and fill the application form AVAILABLE HERE
  2. Send an electronic version of the completed form and ALL the required documents to atosim@ens-lyon.fr
  3. Send by post a signed version of the completed form and the required documents (see list HERE or below) to:

The required documents include:
  • Signed printout of the online application form
  • Certified copies of High-School Diplomas, in English
  • Certified copies of Transcript of records, in English
  • Copy of Passport or other identification
  • Certified copies of Proof of English proficiency:
    TOEFL test: minimum score 92, at least 20 on each sub-score (237 computer-based/580 paper-based test)
    IELTS test: minimum score 6.5, at least 6 on each sub-score (Academic test and not the General one!)
    Cambridge International Examinations: minimum scores A, B (CAE), A,B (CPE) (in both cases, not applicable if you are Chinese). The period between the proficiency test and this application should not exceed two years. Only students who had their bachelor education in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia do not need to send in an English language test.
  • Statement of Purpose: a motivation letter where you indicate why you want to join the ATOSIM programme
  • Recommendation letters from the scientists mentioned in the application form
