Become Sustainable Entrepreneur of the Year 2014

Deadline: 30 April 2014
Open to: all companies irrespective of the size of the company, the industry it is in or the country involved
Award: €10,000

Description

“Sustainability is in our hands” – the slogan of the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award, or SEA for short, the first international award honoring sustainable business practices.

A network of high-ranking experts from politics, economy and society, including the UN Messenger of Peace Jane Goodall, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, Massachusetts State Senator Marc R. Pacheco, Founder and CEO of Idea Connection Systems Robert B. Rosenfeld, Harvard Professor John D. Spengler, EU Parliamentarian Alojz Peterle, Associate Professor of Boston College Carroll School of Management (Ret) Bradley Googins, the Executive Board Member of Bertelsmann Stiftung Brigitte Mohn, Founder of Transparency International Peter Eigen, Member of the European Parliament Lambert van Nistelrooij and former EU Commissioner Franz Fischler, is carrying the SEA concept out into the world, and positioning Sustainable Entrepreneurship as the only business model of the future.

The SEA is a great deal more than just a sustainability award, however. It has been designed to trigger a lifestyle revolution and establish the concept of Sustainable Entrepreneurship as the economic model of the future. Companies are the engines of the economy, and by anchoring Sustainable Entrepreneurship firmly in their core business, they can cease to be part of the problem, and become part of the solution instead.

Eligibility

A Sustainable Entrepreneur is an entrepreneur who has recognized a social problem and linked its solution with an innovative, profitable business idea, and by doing so shaped the world of today and tomorrow. The SEA is oriented towards companies and persons around the world who live and understand ‘Sustainable Entrepreneurship’ in its best sense.

All companies – irrespective of the size of the company, the industry it is in or the country involved, can submit their Sustainable Entrepreneurship ideas, projects and business models for SEA 2014.

Award

The SEA enables companies to be provided with a major international platform which is already having an impact. The SEA honors companies which act for the good of society, the economy and the environment – in harmony with their entrepreneurial interests.

The ten best projects submitted are nominated for the award. The most outstanding of these final projects then receives an award of €10,000.
