Description

Every year the Center for Constitutional Studies and Democratic Development (CCSDD) and the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade organize a Summer School that brings together students and academics from various countries in Central and Eastern Europe, including the Balkans. During the Summer School, students and faculty discuss the constitutional implications of EU expansion and the lessons that can be learned from the founding members of the European Economic Community (EEC) as well as the reforms that need to be implemented in what are often termed as “consolidated democracies”.

The one-week Summer School will take place in Igalo (Herzeg-Novi), Montenegro, on 13-18 July 2014. The primary activities consist of lectures, roundtable discussions, and student presentations. Every year they also organize a boat trip and a visit to cultural sites.

Eligibility

The Summer School is open to final-year undergraduate students and graduate students in Law and Political Science, as well as to young professionals and scholars. The ideal candidate will have a solid background knowledge in European Law and an understanding of the mechanisms of EU enlargement, particularly as applied to Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe.

Costs

The full cost of tuition, accommodation and food during the time of the conference is approximately 850 Euro. They do, however, offer a number of partial and full scholarships available for students from Italy and countries of Central and Eastern Europe. While selection of applicants will be based on the academic merit of the applications, those willing to bear the participation costs fully or partially will be preferred in case of equally strong applications.
