Description

Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) announced the opening of the “Call for Papers” about Vol. 27 of the European and Security Affairs Journal. With the purpose of promoting comprehensive research and policy options in the current proposed issues, IDM’s Center for European & Security Affairs invites scholars, researchers, university lecturers, public policy practitioners, and graduate students at advanced stages of research to submit 500-word proposals for papers to be published in the 27th issue of the Journal, with the following suggested topics of wide coverage:

Albania in NATO: What still needs to be accomplished?

  • Preparation of the new Albanian National Security Strategy and Military Strategy – how can they best reflect changes in the security environment and NATO reforming process
  • Albania’s “smart decisions” to improve its own capabilities, given the economic austerity in Albania
  • Costs and benefits of Albania’s membership to NATO (after 5 years as NATO member, seen by different perspectives: human, operational, financial, etc)

Reform in the Security Sector

  • Anti-Corruption measures and efforts in security sector insituttions
  • Integrity in the Albanian State Police and Armed Forces
  • Conflict of Interest in the Albanian State Police
  • Improving of resource management (human, financial) in the security  sector
  • Education/training in the security sector

Eligibility

Scholars, researchers, university lecturers, public policy practitioners, and graduate students at advanced stages of research are encouraged to submit their original (not previously published) work. The work must be in Albanian or English.

Deadline for abstracts: 20 April 2014
Final deadline for papers: 20 May 2014
