Description

The Graduate School (DEFAP) aims to equip students with the skills required to undertake successfully academic research and/or a career in the private sector, in international organizations and in governmental bodies, and also to offer students a thorough understanding of the working of modern economies.

Economics and quantitative methods form the core of the DEFAP programme. The students are in daily contact with prestigious academics and are exposed to a culture of openness and diversity. DEFAP School combines the research and teaching skills of two well-established universities: Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore,  and Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca. The School is run by a Managing Committee under the supervision of an International Scientific Committee.

Eligibility

Applications for the selection procedure will be considered from candidates of all ages and nationalities who have an Italian degree (laurea specialistica or laurea magistrale) or a post-graduate degree or any foreign academic qualification recognised as equivalent to the Italian degree by the academic authorities in accordance with inter-university agreements of co-operation and mobility.

Applications will be also considered from candidates who, by the date of the application deadline, have not yet obtained their degree or other foreign academic qualification. In this case, admission will be accepted conditionally and the candidate will have to submit the diploma di laurea or the foreign academic qualification by the deadline for matriculation, or give up their place.

Scholarship

At least ten fellowships are offered (for a period of three years) to the highest ranked applicants. Each fellowship pays a grant of 13,600 Euros (gross) per year. The monthly allowance can be increased up to 50% for our PhD students visiting one of partner institutions abroad. The number of scholarships may increase if sponsorships on specific research projects become available.

The deadline for submissions is June 9, 2014.

The admission procedure consists of two stages: a pre-application and an official application. The purpose of the Pre-Application stage is to give candidates a preview as to whether their official Application will have a chance to be successful. Pre-Application must be received by June 9rd and the result of the selection will be available by June 26th .
