Description
The Akademie Schloss Solitude is a public-law foundation, located in Stuttgart, that offers a residency program for international artists covering various disciplines.
More than 1.200 artists from around 100 countries have developed and advanced projects at the Akademie since its opening in 1990, creating a close-knit, global network of Solitude alumni that expands from year to year. The Akademie pursues an intense exchange between artistic and scientific disciplines. With the art, science and business program the transfer of knowledge and experience between the arts, the sciences and economics can be deepened to create new synergies of creativity, inventiveness and management.
In the Akademie Schloss Solitude 50 to 70 fellowships are allocated every 24 months. Fellowships are granted for three to twelve months.
Eligibility
The fellowship is open to international artists under 35 years old, or older if they have completed a university degree within the past 5 years. Currently enrolled university or college students will not be considered for selection.
The following disciplines are eligible:
- architecture;
- visual arts;
- performing arts;
- design;
- literature;
- music/sound;
- video/film/new media;
- humanities/social sciences/economics;
- culture and law.
Fellowship
The fellowship foresees:
- A monthly stipend of 1,100 Euro;
- A combined apartment / studio;
- Travel costs to and from Stuttgart;
- Subsidy for the transport of materials;
- Subsidy for project promotion;
- The use of the workshops owned by Akademie Schloss Solitude under the supervision of the technical director.
