South Caucasus Regional English Language Teaching Conference

Description

The U.S. Embassy in Georgia is thrilled to announce the 6th South Caucasus Regional English Language Teaching Conference which will be held in Tskaltubo, Georgia, on October 3-4, 2014.

The conference is organized in association with the U.S. Embassy Kyiv Regional English Language Office, U.S. Embassies Baku, Yerevan, Minsk and Chisinau. The conference will become a networking and sharing platform for English Access Microscholarship Program teachers, E-Teacher Program alumni, Department of State Office of English Language Program webinar participants, and active ELT professionals from six countries. Participants will present and share their teaching experience on a wide range of the topics – including those below. Department of State English Language Fellows and Specialist will conduct workshops on advanced EFL/ESL methods for secondary and tertiary level. They anticipate productive discussions and fruitful exchange of ideas.

The conference will host 125 participants. The working language will be English.

The program will address the following themes:

  1. Using Technology in the EFL Classroom;
  2. Teaching English to Young Learners;
  3. Integrating Across Skills in EFL;
  4. Teaching English for Specific Purposes;
  5. Considerations for EL Assessment;
  6. Developing Intercultural Communication;
  7. Integrating across Methodology in ELT;
  8. Critical Thinking Approach in ELT;
  9. Teaching Writing Techniques.

Eligibility

For participants from Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine.

Costs

The conference is sponsored by the U.S. government. Complimentary travel expenses, three-night accommodation, meals, and conference materials will be provided for selected participants. Arrangements for the participants from each country will be made by respective U.S. Embassies.

Application

Selection will be based on application reviews, available regional slots for each country, exchange programs alumni distribution, focus of presentations, and commitment by participants to share their learning with other educators.
