Deadline: 26 January 2015
Open to: conservation practitioner with minimum of a four-year college degree and five years work experience
Fellowship: $6,000 stipend and a month of valuable, cutting-edge training

Description

Kinship Conservation Fellows is a ground-breaking environmental leadership program that emphasizes market-based solutions to environmental problems. Kinship’s dynamic global network of 191 Fellows in 47 countries and 6 continents is collaborative, entrepreneurial, and dedicated to effective conservation. The 2015 program will be held from Sunday, June 28 – Wednesday, July 29.

Kinship Fellows are entrepreneurial and results-oriented. A proposed project describing an environmental issue related to your work and your plans for developing a solution using market approaches will be a key part of your application.

Successful applicants will be familiar with business and economic principles and be in a work environment where these principles can be integrated with conservation work. Eighteen applicants will be selected to participate.

Fellowship

At Kinship, they believe in investing in individuals with the potential to advance the future of conservation. They do this by selecting the best and the brightest and awarding them a $6,000 stipend and a month of valuable, cutting-edge training.

Kinship Fellows are housed in comfortable resident hall suites located on the award-winning “green” Western Washington University campus in Bellingham, Washington, which also provides classroom and other meeting spaces for the program.

Eligibility

In order to be considered for the program, applicants will need first to meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a minimum of a four-year college degree (or its overseas equivalent);
  • Have a minimum of five years relevant work experience after your degree;
  • Be proficient in spoken and written English;
  • Be a conservation practitioner (rather than an academic or researcher).
