Description

Cafébabel is a online participatory magazine run by the non-profit organisation Babel International. The publication is sustained by a very motivated network of around 1500 volunteers from all over Europe and boasts a professional editorial team based in Paris.

Cafébabel is hiring one native English speaker Web Reporter and Community Liaison to Volunteers for a ‘civic service’ contract. Under the supervision of the Editorial Coordinator, the placement includes the following tasks:

  • Raise awareness about active citizenship and European issues;
  • Support the writing of the volunteer authors;
  • Encouraging contributions from youth;
  • Inform youth about news in Europe;
  • Actively participate in the life of the network.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for a  ‘civic service’ contract you must be younger than 26 (born after February 13th, 1989) and hold European citizenship and/or have a French titre de séjour. The position is only open to native English speakers, and it is also preferred that you speak good French, as well as any of our other publication languages (Italian, Spanish, German or Polish).

Remuneration

The civic service contract will last for 8 months with a monthly salary of 1088. There is also a possibility of 100 € per month for those with proof of ‘RSA’ (minimum benefits provided by the French state).
