COST – European Cooperation in Science and Technology is organizing a workshop about the role of the audiovisual in the production of transcultural memory in Europe. Such audiovisual media are among the most pervasive and powerful media to archive and construct memory in Europe today. The aim of the workshop is to understand the audiovisual as a medium of memory that operates in and across different platforms (such as cinema, television, internet, museums).
The workshop will take place from 17-19 September 2015 in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
The call for papers is open to everyone close and affiliated with the topic. Papers should show how audiovisual memory negotiates cultural and national boundaries in Europe.
There will be funding for a limited number of external speakers that will include airfare, hotel and a flatrate for meals.
All proposals must be submitted via email to: Astrid Erll at: [email protected]–frankfurt.de and Ann Rigney at: [email protected]. Proposals for papers should contain a title and a brief summary (100 words) and proposals for panels (of 2 or 3 papers) are also welcome.
The deadline for submissions is 28 February 2015.
