Description

CoreNet Global is a nonprofit association, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia (USA), representing more than 9,000 executives in 49 countries with strategic responsibility for the real estate assets of large, multinational corporations. One third of their membership resides outside North America (primarily Europe, China, India, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and the Middle East) with most members managing portfolios with millions of square feet spanning multiple continents. The end user membership base is diverse and spans industries including high-tech, financial services, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, telecommunications, insurance and oil and gas. Google, Unilever, International Monetary Fund, Oracle, Coca-Cola, Amazon, AT&T, General Motors, Barclays and Shell are among their many member companies. This competition is designed to attract students from all academic disciplines to tackle key challenges facing the profession. Teams of students (up to 5 from the same institution) and individuals are challenged to develop a new strategy for management of the entire real estate portfolio that provides the enterprise with all of the required space and develops the resource fluidity requested by the CEO. Here is your chance to impress the jury of professionals and academics with your diversity, intelligence and creativity.

Eligibility

Students at all levels and stages of their academic career are welcome to compete as long as they are registered with their home institution at the time they submit their materials for the first round. The call is open to:

  • Individual students, or teams of up to 5 from the same institution;
  • Full-time or part-time students;
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD students etc;
  • Any recognized institution of higher learning.

Prizes

The winning team will receive $10,000 to be equally divided between registered team members. Each participating student will be fully responsible for the payment of any tax or amount of any kind due (if any) in respect to the award of a prize under the Challenge. Additionally, the host institution of the winning individual or team will be awarded a grant of $10,000 to support the study of corporate real estate, or related subjects. CoreNet Global reserves the right to award additional ‘discretionary’ prizes during or at the end of the competition.

How to apply?

Register online latest by 31 July 2015. Once a registration is completed, a confirmation email will be sent to the Team’s Primary Contact. Incomplete registrations may be discarded. There is no fee to register and teams may  register only once. 

To complete Round One each team must submit the following (all “page” mentions refer to a standard A4 or equivalent document):

  • A one-page executive summary using 11-point Arial font with one-inch margins;
  • A written submission up to five pages using 11-point Arial font with one-inch margins;
  • Up to five exhibits (one page per exhibit);
  • One multimedia presentation up to five minutes in length (Slideshare, YouTube, etc.).
