ArtsLink Five-Week Residencies in the US

Description

CEC ArtsLink promotes international communication and understanding through collaborative, innovative arts projects for mutual benefit. They support and produce programs that encourage the exchange of visual and performing artists and cultural managers in the United States and 37 countries overseas.

ArtsLink Residencies offers artists and arts managers from eligible overseas countries a five-week residency at an established, non-profit arts organization in the US. The program is designed to create opportunities for artists and communities across the US to share artistic practices with artists and arts managers from abroad and engage in dialogue that advances understanding across cultures. Host organizations are selected based on an application process open to US non-profit organizations from all fifty US states. Applicants do not need to have contacts with organizations in the US to apply for this program. For the 2015 Residencies program, fellows will be artists and arts managers working in performing arts and literature. Artists and arts managers working in visual and media arts may apply until October 2015 for the 2016 Residencies program.

ArtsLink Residencies allows artists and arts managers from eligible countries to:

  • Pursue artistic and/or professional collaborations that will enrich and enhance their work;
  • Share ideas and expertise with US artists and organizations, with residents of the broader host community, and with colleagues from the region who participate in the program;
  • Expand knowledge of arts practice and deepen understanding of cultural life in the US;
  • Create new work that draws inspiration from interaction with artists and arts professionals within the US host community;
  • Expand professional arts management skills through work with US organizations.

Applicants must be citizens of, and currently reside in, an eligible countries. If you are living outside the region temporarily, contact ArtsLink staff to determine your eligibility. There are no age limitations. Applicants must have sufficient knowledge of English to function independently while in the US.

Undergraduate students, amateurs and research scholars are not eligible. Arts managers must be affiliated with an arts organization in the non-commercial sector. Artists seeking placement in commercial firms are also ineligible. ArtsLink Fellows from prior years are ineligible.

Fellowship

ArtsLink Residencies awards are made to the US host organization to cover the living and working expenses for the five-week residency. Airfare, visa expenses, health insurance, and food and lodging during the opening and closing sessions in New York are also provided by CEC ArtsLink.
