University of Copenhagen PhD Scholarship at the Department of Biomedical Sciences

Description

A 3-year PhD scholarship is available at the University of Copenhagen, Department of Biomedical Sciences, Section of Heart and Circulatory research with starting date 1 August 2016.

The PhD project will be carried out in the Ion Channel Group under supervision by associate prof. Bo Hjorth Bentzen and Nicole Schmitt. The main focus of the study is to investigate epigenetic changes in atrial fibrillation.

Desired qualifications within at least some of the following areas:

  • Large animal models of cardiac disease;
  • Epigenetics;
  • Molecular biology (whole-exome sequencing data analysis, Sanger sequencing, in situ hybridization, cell cultures, and quantitative RT-PCR);
  • Cardiac arrhythmia.

Eligibility

Motivated candidates are encouraged to apply. The candidate must hold a relevant Master degree or its equivalent.

Scholarship

The successful PhD candidates will be offered full-time positions for a period of three years, contingent on a satisfactory performance, with the specific intent that it results in a PhD degree and scientific publications.

Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organization.
