EVS in Italy for Young Macedonians!

Description

SMART is a non-profit organisation running an EVS project through four different towns, one of them being Poggiardo in Southern Italy. SMART is currently looking for one EVS volunteer coming from Macedonia. The EVS project will last from 1 March until 30 September 2017 i.e. 7 months.

Some of the tasks of the EVS volunteer would be the following:

  • Organizing cultural events for local people using the skills or interests of the volunteer and the background of her/his country (e.g. concerts, exhibitions, theatre, dance or sport groups);
  • Offering non-formal education opportunities in form of language conversations or discussions on actual themes for local people;
  • Assisting in the library, taking part in the projects they implement with schools etc;
  • Making new contacts and involving local community;
  • Creating workshops 1-2 times a week activities with the language and music lessons, graphic arts, music for the children and adults;
  • Collaboration at providing of the leisure time and lifelong learning activities (trainings, seminars, trips & researches etc.), as well as other activities.

The volunteer will live in Poggiardo. Like many towns in the South of Italy, Poggiardo is warm and welcoming, nice with immigrants and tourists. Throughout the project, the volunteer will also receive Italian lessons.

Eligibility

The ideal EVS volunteer has:

  • Ability and motivation for work with youth, working knowledge on PC, independence, creativity and involvement in work on projects;
  • Willingness to learn the Italian language, to adapt, to change and to work in a multicultural environment;
  • Interest in art and cultural activities;
  • Outgoing personality with some specific skills (music, dancing, singing), to make full use of the project proposed activities, etc.

Costs

  • The travel costs will be reimbursed up to a certain amount allocated by the European Commission;
  • Accommodation, insurance, food and tickets for the local transports are provided by the host organization. The volunteer will also receive pocket money monthly.
