Description

The University of Portsmouth is proud to announce two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation (ICG) aimed at promising early career researchers. To comply with UKVI legislation, non-EEA candidates are only eligible to apply for this post if it has been advertised for a total of 28 days.

The purpose of the fellowship is to undertake high quality independent postdoctoral research and innovation in gravitational wave science, astrophysics and/or cosmology to complement and extend the existing ICG research portfolio. To engage in teaching, scholarship, research, innovation and outreach as needed in line with the Department, Faculty and University objectives.

The University of Portsmouth is a public university in the city of Portsmouth, in the ceremonial county of Hampshire on the south coast of England; it is located mainly on Portsea Island with a population of 205,400, it is the United Kingdom’s only island city.

Eligibility

The university welcome applications from all qualified applicants, but applications are particularly encouraged from traditionally under-represented groups in science. The University of Portsmouth and the ICG hold Athena SWAN bronze awards and the university is an Institute of Physics Project Juno Supporter; these projects show a commitment to introduce organizational and cultural practices that promote diversity and equality in science and create a better working environment for men and women.

Fellowship

  • Salary is in the range GBP 34,520-  GBP 37,706 per annum;
  • Salary is paid by a bank or building society monthly in arrears.
