Description

Brussels MEU is an annual simulation of the European Union decision-making process. During 5 days, participants from all over Europe and beyond come together to learn about the intricacies of the EU policy-making, by playing the roles of Members of the European Parliament, Ministers in the Council, and Heads of State in the European Council.

Brussels MEU will take place from 24 th April to 29 th April. The simulation together with the training session will run from Tuesday noon to Saturday evening, where Sunday is a departure day.

You may choose from the following roles.

  1. Member of the European Parliament (MEP);
  2. Minister of the Council of the European Union;
  3. Head of State in the European Council;
  4. Journalist.

Topics to be discussed at Brussels MEU 2018:

Member of the European Parliament and the Ministers in the Council will debate:

  • General Data Protection Regulation;
  • Posting of Workers Directive.

Heads of State in the European Council will negotiate Social Europe.

Eligibility

Participants from Austria, Italy, Serbia, Estonia, Finland, Croatia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine, Sweden, Malta, Moldova, Armenia, Cyprus, France, Germany, and Belgium are eligible to apply.

Costs 

Brussels MEU 2018 is FREE of charge for all the participants.

However, a deposit fee of 40 EUR will be required to secure participation. This deposit will be refunded to you after the simulation, conditional on your attendance.

Participants TRAVELLING from the countries indicated below will receive 70% reimbursement of their real travel costs, with the maximum amount indicated below per country:

Armenia – 530 EUR

Cyprus – 360 EUR

Austria, Italy, Serbia, Estonia, Finland, Croatia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine, Sweden, Malta, Moldova – 275 EUR

France, Germany – 180 EUR

Belgium – 20 EUR

Brussels MEU will provide accommodation in shared rooms in a hostel for the participants applying until the 23rd of January 2018.
