OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR 2018

Deadline: 6 December 2018
Open to: amateur and professional photographers from around the world
Benefits: cash and equipment prizes

Description

The “Outdoor Photographer of the Year”  competition is now open for entries.

You can enter as many categories as you like, but each entrant is limited to 10 images per category per entry fee – you can enter a category more than once if you wish to submit more than 10 images to a category. All entrants must be over 18, with the exception of the Young Outdoor Photographer of the Year category, for which entrants must be under the age of 18 on the competition deadline date.

THE CATEGORIES

1/ LIGHT ON THE LAND

Under sunset’s fiery skies, in fleeting twilight, with the gentler light of the moon, or with the first rays of a new day, they are looking for stunning landscape images from anywhere in the world.

2/ WILDLIFE INSIGHT

There has never been a better time to be a wildlife photographer. They are looking for compelling compositions showing the spirit and behaviour of wildlife around the planet.

3/ LIVE THE ADVENTURE

Capture adventure sports activities around the globe. From hiking and mountain biking to backcountry skiing and paragliding, and everything in between, they want to see the thrill of life lived to its maximum.

4/ AT THE WATER’S EDGE

Lakes, rivers, waterfalls and the coast make for some of the most appealing outdoor photography subjects. They  want to see inspiring images of them either in their wider environment or more intimate views.

5/ SMALL WORLD

Nature can be at its most amazing in the smallest forms. They want to see your macro and close-up photographs of the plants and insects all around us that often go unnoticed.

6/ UNDEREXPOSED

They want to celebrate the breathtaking photographic work that is going on underwater. From seas and oceans to rivers and lakes, they are looking for images that showcase the remarkable world beneath the surface.

7/ SPIRIT OF TRAVEL

Cultures, people, places and festivals of the world; they want to see some of the most compelling and freshest images that capture the spirit of your experiences on journeys around the planet.

8/ VIEW FROM ABOVE

Whether shot from a drone, helicopter or aeroplane, they are looking for the most inspiring images – whether grand scenes or abstracts – of our planet’s landscapes taken from the skies.

YOUNG OPOTY 2018

Nature is my world: for outdoor photographers aged 18 or under, to shoot landscapes, nature or wildlife subjects that matter most to them.

The competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers from around the world. The adult categories are open to anyone over the age of 18 at the competition deadline date. The Young Outdoor Photographer of the Year category is open to anyone under the age of 18 at the competition deadline date.

Benefits

The overall winner of OPOTY 2018 will receive around EUR 2600 (GBP 2,000) cash, and they are thrilled to announce that this year each of the category winners will be receiving a superb Fjällräven Award to the value of around EUR 600 (GBP 500).
