Description

The UBS Optimus Foundation (UBSOF) is an independent non-profit philanthropic organization established by UBS in 1999. The foundation supports high-quality, innovative, impactful projects around the world focusing on three core areas for children: health, early education and protection.
UBS Optimus Foundation has issued a targeted call for proposals on ‘Linking Education & Child Health.’ This call is for organizations from selected Asian countries and selected countries from Latin America. This foundation supports organizations within three distinct phases of programmatic development. Within the first stage, the innovation phase of project funding, it seeks to support unconventional, “out of the box” and even risky – yet promising – new ideas.
For this targeted call for proposals, it seeks projects which link early childhood education and health, with a particular emphasis on reduction of parasitic diseases and/or application of micronutrients to improve children’s cognitive development, education and health outcomes.
They must involve research and/or innovation (not simply delivering services), and must display potential for longer term sustainability and scalability.
Robust outcome measurement and research on effectiveness, including cost-effectiveness, are also desirable. Additional attractive project features include leveraging and learning from local/traditional expertise and building local community skills to address local problems.

This call is for organizations from Asian countries (priority countries: China, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia) and from Latin America (priority countries: Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru.)

  1. Yes, in fact, there are scholarships and gtnars available specifically for students like you: transfers. Do a little research and find a few of them. Also check with the department you plan to major in and see if they have any department-specific scholarships you can apply for. And fill out the FAFSA, there are still gtnars through the feds that you can get as a transfer student. And GREAT plan to go to community college first; that will save you more than some people get in gtnars and scholarships! I speak from experience! Good luck!
