Description

BIOTRAIL implements the existing Master’s and PhD training program in life sciences, proposed by Aix Marseille University on the Luminy Campus with innovative initiatives  opened to international activities. The goal is to provide an excellent scientific environment and career development opportunities enabling to attract highly motivated students worldwide. The research network  Labex INFORM provides a dedicated Interdisciplinary training program  in Integrative and Quantitative biology. The Biology training program provides specific opportunities in Cell and Developmental Biology, Immunology, Neurobiology stemming from the international visibility of the founding research centres :

The international dimension is reinforced with the setup of regular lectures workshops and seminar series from high profile international experts in the spectrum of disciplines covered by the program. The program aims at establishing a strong, efficient and long lasting network including prestigious institutions worldwide. Among flagship actions promoted by the program are lab rotations opened to enrolled students in world class Institutions in the field of life sciences.

Eligibility

You should have a foreign university Master degree allowing you to enter a PhD program by the admission period (July 2014). They encourage graduate students from different backgrounds to apply, biologists but also engineers, physicists and mathematicians.

Fellowship

The  BIOTRAIL program offers  PhD fellowships (fully funded by either A*MIDEX or Labex INFORM) open to international recruitment of talented students who will benefit from well-resourced laboratories, state of the art core facilities and a supportive and stimulating scientific environment. Up to 11 fellowship can be awarded in 2014:

  • 7 fellowships will be opened for Interdisciplinary  training in the Labex INFORM network; they cover competitive salary for 4 years;
  • 4 fellowships will be opened for the Biology training in the participating  research centers; they cover competitive salary for 3 years.

Awards are submitted to merit and the positions may not be provided in full.

Applications can be submitted until 17 March 2014. They have to be submitted electronically to either Biology or Interdisciplinary programs.
