Description

The United Nations / Ranan Lurie Political Cartoon Awards are now open for entries in the 2017 competition.

Submitted entries should represent work done from the beginning of September 2016, to the 15th of October 2017, reflecting the importance of human dignity, mutual respect and friendship among nations, as well as economic consideration and environmental responsibilities towards each other.

The United Nations have established this annual competition in 2005, after political cartoonist Ranan Lurie, to promote the highest standard of excellence in political cartoons.

Eligibility 

Any professional individual is eligible to enter political cartoons printed in any publication published anywhere, in any language.

Award

The total prize money fund for 2017 is USD 18,000, of which USD 10,000 is reserved for the First prize. Plaques will also be awarded to the first three best cartoons and the ten honorable mentions.

Winning cartoons are chosen for their high professional standards in art, political analysis of events, the projection of events to come, humor, while also reflecting the spirit and principles of the U.N.

How to Apply?

Entries must be submitted in writing and addressed in form of letter.
