European Commission Joint Research Centre is organising open competitions to recruit new scientific/technical staff in the following fields:
* Chemistry, Biology and Health Sciences
* Physics
* Structural Mechanics
* Quantitative Policy Analysis
* Spatial Sciences
* Environmental Sciences
* Energy Sciences
* Communication/Information Technology
Successful candidates may eventually have the opportunity to work in one of the JRC’s seven institutes on the basis of a permanent contract as an AD6 or AD7 research administrator.
How to apply
The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) is responsible for selecting staff for European Union institutions and agencies. You should carefully read the notice of competitions.
Application
On the EPSO website, you will be prompted to create an EPSO account. You will then need to complete an on-line application form, and to submit this to EPSO prior to the specified deadline for registration.
Assessment centre
Your application will be evaluated against a predetermined set of criteria. If you are admitted to the competition, you will be invited to an assessment centre in Brussels. Your day at the assessment centre will include any or all of the following:
* verbal, numerical, and abstract reasoning tests
* a written case study in the chosen field
* a group exercise
* a structured interview
You will have the possibility to receive feedback on your performance.
Reserve list
If successful, your name will be placed on a reserve list from which the various JRC Institutes can select candidates to invite for interview. Job offers are made after this interview stage.
