Win €2,500 in the Piemonte Data Visualization Contest

Description

Piemonte Visual Contest is a competition to collect and implement visualization proposals based on public dataconcerning the activities of the Regione Piemonte. Telling the story of Piedmont by leveraging public data heritage is the goal of Consiglio Regionale del Piemonte and TOP-IX Consortium, promoters of Piemonte Visual Contest in collaboration with the Open Data Board of the Regione Piemonte Directorate of Innovation. Their long standing partnership, along with the help of many other local institutions, enables Piedmont to be among the brightest examples in the European Open Data sector.

The contest aims at involving institutions, developers and designers in a learning process, so as to promote access to Piedmont digital heritage. The wise use of acquired digital data enables transparency in the administration decision making process and evidence based information for the citizens.

There are two categories  within the contest: Infographic (static) and Data Visualisation (dynamic). The projects must be based on data concerning social, economical and environmental aspects of Piedmont. The projects  will be evaluated by a jury of external experts. Winners will be invited to the final event in Turin.

Eligibility

The competition is open to citizens, associations, communities of developers and/or designers (graphic and web), schools and companies within the European UnionThere are no age limits. Minors shall provide parental authorization.

Awards

The best three projects in each category (Infographic and Data Visualisation) will be awarded  a money prize:

  • 2.500 € for the first place
  • 1.000 € for the second place
  • 500 € for the third place

Furthermore Talent Garden Torino, as a sponsor, guarantees a non-money prize of 3.000€ which will increment Piemonte visual contest prize pool.

Application

The deadline is November 30th, 2013. Infographics shall be submitted through their dedicated online application form HERE in .pdf format or in high resolution .jpg format. Link or website url shall be provided for Online Data Visualisations. Offline Data Visualisations shall be submitted through their dedicated form. Remember to upload all the files (html, style sheet, images, JavaScript or different formats) within a folder. A short description of the data visualisation shall be provided, along with a list of data sources. It is possible to submit different data visualisations both in the same category, both in the two contest categories (Infographics and Data Visualisations).

Visualisations published before the beginning of the contest are admissible. As well as visualisations presented in different contests are admissible.

Following the contest guidelines, every visualization shall be released under Open license, to be specified during submission.
